Innovation has given way to more revolutionary ways to straighten teeth. Gone are the days of bulky brackets and aggressive-looking metal. Now there are ways to get the straighter smile you want without anyone being the wiser. It’s called Invisalign, and it’s the clear alternative to braces.
I’m sure you’ve seen commercials advertising Invisalign, but maybe you realize that you still don’t know much about this treatment option. If you’re ready for a straighter smile, here are some of the advantages that Invisalign offers.
As the name suggests, these removable aligners are completely clear. Invisalign was designed to straighten smiles subtly, which makes it an appealing option for high school and college students, as well as the working professional. Being able to go into a business meeting without worrying that people are staring at your braces can offer a lot of freedom when it comes to straightening your teeth.
These clear aligners are worn for about two weeks at a time and the number of aligners will depend on your smile. The average treatment period ranges from about 9 months to 15 months, which is relatively shorter than wearing traditional braces (approximately two years).
All these aligners can be removed at your convenience; however, in order to ensure that you get the smile you want, we only recommend removing Invisalign when you eat, and when you brush and floss. You can enjoy all your favorite foods and there are no dietary restrictions, unlike with traditional braces. Also, you don’t have to worry about having to brush and floss around metal brackets and wires.
It’s more delicate
Again, metal doesn’t necessarily scream comfort; however, with Invisalign, the flexible material and the fact that the aligners are custom-designed to fit your mouth means that you’ll have braces that are made just for you. This also means you’ll experience less discomfort and irritation.
While Invisalign is a wonderful orthodontic option for some, not everyone is an ideal candidate. If you’re interested in finding out if Invisalign could help get your smile back on track, call us to set up a consultation: (617) 323-5000.
